So heres what I've got ....
Gen II Busa (09') forks and calipers, no problem right ? Spacers needed I dig.

I am stuck on what front guard can I use coz I believe the std. TLR wont fit. I like the 04'gixxer 1k FG, will that fit neatly ? What are my options ?

Can I use the mastercylinder off that model too ?
Thx in advance :thumbup

Hey,

New to the forum but not found specific detail on this question.

I have similar misfiring/intermittent running as a number of folks I have read about. It has usually happened when damp or ridden in rain/spray, but when warm sorts itself out. However, the other day a cylinder (number 2) dropped and didn't come back at tick over or slower riding. On harder throttle openings it came back, but trickling in traffic at about 45mph it was in and out of operation. I did research and changed the plugs. Number 2 was certainly a little dirtier (carbon and slight oil) than number 1, but not much more.

New plugs spark cleanly with good blue spark. Put them in and it is running on two cylinders again, thought all was good for a few minutes, definitely a lot better, but then still an intermittent fail on number 2, especially when cold start lever was off. Smell of fuel suggests it's not burning properly, so ignition rather than injection and better running with new plugs suggests ignition. It's a '98 with original coils and leads, about 38000 miles, so checked primary resistance across coils (out of curiosity, but bearing in mind coil failure is rare). Number 2 is at 8.2ohms, number 1 is 7.6ohms. This is above the recommended 3-5ohms, but is this the sign of bad coils or would a coil causing intermittent running have a far higher resistance than this?

Any other ideas?

Cheers,

Ben

Hey all. I flushed my TLR's Clutch fluid, and have bleed the shit out of it. Straight Fluid comming from it no air at all.

When letting out my clutch in first gear from a stop I have to let my clutch handle out pretty far for the bike to wanna start rolling. I can almost let it out completely out, and the bike will barely stall. Because of this my power feels pretty weak in low gears. I don't remember the clutch feeling this way.

The clutch lever is stiff. I've bleed like a bottle of fluid through it, and with every bleed I get a ton of fluid through the tube no bubbles.

Anything I should try, or look at? I'm sure this is something common, and stupid.

ps. Stupid hydro clutches.

hey everyone, the wifey took her tls out for a spin tonight and when she got home she informed me that the bike was skipping(misfiring)alot so i pulled it in the garage and took the rear cylinder spark plug out to get a look see how it was burning.now i havent changed the plugs in the bike since i got it.obviously i am going to now but i cant really tell if it is running lean .the electrode looks like a very light whiteish brown.what do you think?also i am not sure the bike has the right plugs in it .it has ngk cr9e.if it is suppose to run cr8's the the plug that i took out of the bike is a hotter range which is burning hotter .does anyone know what the correct ngk plug is for a 1997 tl1000s is.take a look see tell me what u think.

Hello boys :-)

My name is Bob, I am from Czech republic and I will be happy to introduce my new building project of Suzuki TL1000R Akrapovic factory racing here.
I own TL1000R for four years now and I am totally crazy of it. I am going to tell you my story about building steps to final when I intend to race this bike in "2-cylinder cup" here in Czech republic.

First picture when I bought it, all parts were standard, only KN filter and open exhausts installed on. Mileage 6250 - 2008 year.

Years 2009, 2010 without any changes, I had been riding it only because I was very ecstatic of the bike.

The building started in 2011 when I bought complete Akrapovic exhaust system. It is EVO1 and I bought it from Fish. I also had M4 exhaust system as a spare, but Akrapovic is the best, so I sold my M4 and started to think what else...Some STD parts on TL is not for me - I want to be different - so building project were started. ( Definitely after my crash on track where I had been riding with my knees on asphalt (with wide smile) when the front wheel suddenly had a slide and my lovely TL crashed badly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFjTtpgnItY&feature=plcp

Repair to STD condition is not my cup of coffee, so new project "AKRAPOVIC FACTORY RACING" was born. My idea was clear. New, different bike with a lot of racing parts available or suitable for TL (O.Z. wheels, Ohlins fork, yokes, engine, rearset, Brembo,1080 kit....). My vision was clear : I still have full Akrapovic system, then it was installed on bike :-). I sold all parts which I have not needed yet and have bought everything with accordance of my plan. It was a long way, but result of building definitely makes me happy :-)

p.s. this text is written and translated by friend of mine, because I do not speak English.
p.p.s. please, be lenient, because my English is not perfect (Jiri - writer and translator)

to be continued... :-)

He was taking a corner went wide and hit a wall. He said he just went at it too fast and couldn't get her leaned in fast enough. My guess is he grabbed the brake and she stood up on him. He's got both broken legs a broken foot a broken thumb and a shit ton of road rash. At least he wore gear without it he would've been dead or at least missing half of his face the helmet was tore up ill see if I can get a pic of it. He's been laid up in the hospital since Saturday and will be in a wheelchair for most the summer. But back to the why u don't go alone... he layed on the side of the road for over an hour before getting into an ambulance. Had his injuries been much worse he may not be here today

/boo. I pride myself on my ability to work with tools and follow designs (in past life i built airplanes for a living) and am completely comfortable with chopping up the electrical systems on just about anything. However I may have had a bit too much to drink when doing most of this work, and I went to fire her up tonight after finishing installing a new Shindengen FH012AA R/R and realized that there is no faithful whine of the fuel injection/pump!!! (everything else worked great though!!!)! :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

I'm looking for some insight here, because even after sobering up I'm 99% sure I read the installation documents correctly, and followed the "definitive electrical guide" thread fairly precisely. Mostly I'm going to post pictures of my setup and a single open connector which I thought I was supposed to bypass for this mod and need your help. Anywho, to the visuals!

I'm hoping this is the problem because splicing wires is cake, i would just hate to have to tear sh*t apart to get the fuel injection working again...

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

Good Morning Guys,
I'm going to continue to search through the posts on here, but thought I might get more direct help to my situation by creating my own thread.

I have been having an issue with the fuel system on a 2003 TL1000R for a while now. It ran all season last year. It would occasionally act like it was starving for fuel while ridding, I thought bad gas or clogged fuel filter or worse the injectors were clogged. I ran seafoam through it towards the end of last season and it didn't really change anything. The plan then was to take the bike apart over the winter and clean and replace a few things. That never happened then.

2012 Season, I have replaced the spark plugs, battery, New Fuel Pump, and Air Filter. Here is where I am stuck!! I now cant not get the bike to start. I have checked the plugs, I'm getting spark! I have double checked the fuel and I'm getting fuel! I have checked the Air and I'm getting air! I took the air box off last night and the filter off sprayed some starting fluid in there and after a short time I got the bike to at-least backfire!!

I'm am a bit of a newbie to this whole thing!!! I'm guessing at this point it is the fuel injectors? If this is the case, Well I be able to take them off my self and have them sent somewhere to be cleaned or will I need special tools to remove them or would I be better off taking it to a shop?

Thanks for any help you can provide me!!!!!!!!!!!!
