Tl1000S front forks rebuild.

Well I'm about to install my TL1000S forks in my SV but I noticed on fork has a leaky seal. I have never replaced a seal but I guess there's a first time for everything. I'd like to upgrade the forks at the same time to make them a little better overall.

This is a budget rebuild btw.

I'm 230lbs, what do you guys recommend for seals, oil, springs and emulators?

Danny Never is your man, send him a PM.
He works for Traxxion Dynamics and should be able to point you in the right direction.

Yes, Danny's outfit can completely rebuild your forks. Don't know how expensive, but it ain't cheap. You might look on ebay for some late model or even new Busa forks. I think they are a direct replacement, and bigger springs. Contact Danny just to get a price compare to new ones.

Why do you recommend BUS forks ? Are the tiller units THAT bad ?

No, in fact, as I've said in other threads...when I was initially looking into replacing the forks on my old TLS with newer GSXR forks, I was questioned as to why by every single suspension person I asked. All said they wouldn't replace TL forks as they are very good and can be made better with new internals...that includes Race Tech, Lindeman, Catalyst Reaction, Stig at PPS (Ohlins guru) and many others. So, that would lead me to believe that the original TL forks are actually pretty good!

Re: Tl1000S front forks rebuild.

Busa forks have .85 kg/mm, stock TLR are .94 kg./mm. You need to have at least the .94 kg/mm springs, otherwise, contact a reputable suspension outfit (Traxxion Dynamics, Race Tech, GP Suspension, etc) and get an idea of what you need. I rebuilt a set of TLS forks with GP Suspension stuff and it was sweet.

Re: Tl1000S front forks rebuild.

If you are using stock TL valving, use 7 wt oil, use stock fork seals.
