Bitchin' Bike Contest
Well here we go. The Bitchin' Bike (TL of the Month) contest is set to start the first of next month. I wanted to get this posted up ahead of time so we could address any issues and work out some bugs. That and so you guys could tell me how completely insane I am for making such a complicated contest.
So here are the rules and they may change at any time since I have no clue if this will even work out as planned. Did I mention this would be confusing and complicated? Good just wanted to make that clear before you continue reading. 1.) From the first to the 8th (the dates may change) of each month members will be able to enter their bike or anyone else's bike for nomination. Just a basic thread with 1 or 2 bike pictures started in the "Contest Entries" sub forum of this forum will be sufficient. 2.) After you create the thread a staff member will turn your post into a yes/no poll (you don't start a poll the staff will take care of that) which will then allow members to vote on your bike. This voting is to get your bike into the actual monthly contest. Bikes receiving a 51% or greater yes vote will be entered into the actual Bitchin' Bike contest poll. 3.) An official Bitchin' Bike thread will be created each month with all the qualifying bikes in a poll for your voting pleasure. The official thread will start the 10th of the month and run until the 15th at which time the poll will be closed, and the monthly winner will be announced. 4.) The winner will get a super cool permanent image in their profile (kind of like the site supporters image) stating they were a past Bitchin' Bike winner. Once you have won you may not enter for one full year from your last win unless you are entering a different bike. Why so complicated you may ask? Well I'm an idiot for one and can't do anything simple. I also wanted to allow guys to enter their own bike since in the past there were some very cool bikes that never made it to the contest. But my fear was there would be some crapper bikes entered which would not be appropriate so if we get to vote on them we can decide what is contest entry worthy. Plus it's just damn fun to vote on polls if you ask me. So there you go, if you have any questions post up. Hell I created the darn thing and I have a bunch of questions. Rob

Re: Bitchin' Bike Contest
um, so we have to buy a raffle ticket?![]() Actually, I think it's a great way to do it. A couple of questions though... 1) How often can a bike be entered or win 2) Can anyone enter/ be nominated or do they have to be a site supporter |

Re: Bitchin' Bike Contest
1.) A bike can be entered every month for all I care. No need to wait unless it becomes and issue, then maybe we'll make it where you can't enter two months in a row.
2.) No need to be a site supporter. Everyone is welcome to enter.

Re: Bitchin' Bike Contest
The only thing that caught my attention was the nominate your own bike part. That means we could have like 2000 nominations every month? Might get crazy. I think being nominated by your fellow members might be easier at first. You might want to add the Bitchen Bike of the Year as well. Take the 12, or this year's, 8 months winners and do a poll for them to win honors for that year. Thanks again for trying this J.P.

Re: Bitchin' Bike Contest
I was worried about everybody entering their bike but think maybe the qualifying poll will eliminate much of the entries if they aren't worthy. We'll see how it goes for a month or two and maybe tweak it. We'll definitely have a bike of the year.

Re: Bitchin' Bike Contest
my only question is does it mean you have
a.) the 1st through the 8th to enter your bike b.) the 9th for the poll c.) the 10th through the 15th to vote because if so i think we need more than 1 day to do the poll

Re: Bitchin' Bike Contest
Yea, I guess if you got nominated or enter on the 8th then everyone only get's a day to poll for yes/no entry. Pays to jump in early.
Which could bring up a problem... As long as you get a 51% yes/no rating, you get into the contest... So If I wait until the last minute to enter, nobody gets a chance to poll on it, so all I would need is one buddy to vote yes and I'm in with a 100% Maybe the 4th as a nomination deadline and the 8th as the yes/no poll deadline? Am I annoying you yet Jiffy? ![]() |

Re: Bitchin' Bike Contest
Did anyone read the part about making nominations from the 1st to the 8th? Check your calendars, you've still got a few days, though a lot of you seem to be getting in some practice.
