  • Best and Worst in two days!!

My mate and I planned on going to the Staffie Rally Friday afternoon after work.

Got the trailer loaded, everything packed and ready to go. Taking note that there were a couple of ominous looking clouds overhead, but hey, the Staffy is 350km away, so the weather over there might be fine!

So off we went at aroung 16:30.

It was raining hard, with a lot of mist, next moment we hit the ice/snow/hail, full-on.

Truck spunt. We completed 4 full circles before coming to a stop.

The most amazing thing is that the trailer didn't tip over. Nor did any of our bikes come off! The rear wheel of the S, did slip off the trailer, but the front held in upright. Some slight cosmetic damage to the sub-frame where the tie-downs were attached, and the handlebars and grips are a bit shot. But other than that, no damage.

The upside to this, is that on Saturday, the rain had stopped. It was still overcast and damn cold, but we managed to get in 3 of the famous/notorious "22's" between Sabie and Hazyview. Before the wheater forced us to pack up! That made the trip worth while.

That must be one of the few roads in South Africa, if not the only road, where you can destroy a set of knee sliders in the space of two, 40km runs.

You don't have to worry about traffic, you can actually see what's happening in the road ahead of you, and you don't have to worry about pot holes!

LUCKY! God that the bikes didn't go! Lost a dirt bike off a trailer once, strap rachet broke; NOT a pretty site.

                        Thanks SDTLR.

Have to show off my front. No track. Actually I've never been on a track. Only our favourite twisties!

                        How's your bike repairs going?

The funny thing is, that during the 15 or so seconds of spinning, the only thing that I was thinking about is my bike!
Not the truck or the trailer, or damage to them, only the bikes.
I didn't even check the truck or trailer for damage until the following morning!
