  • New kid on the block

    Hi all,

Just bought my childhood dream LOL. TL100S 1998 mod. Anyways I would like to become part of the community here and get as much info as I can as I feel an obsession coming on. So to get started I have a question or 2. I have been offered an engine, front end and exhaust (not mufflers) from a 97 model TLS. Will parts from the 97 fit on the 98? If so which particular bits?

I have also read elsewhere that the original 126bhp model has 00 as the last 2 digits on the PCU and the modified 11 version has 01 as the last 2 digits on the PCU. Can anyone confirm this? Both engines have 00.

I look forward to getting know everyone here.

It never ceases to amaze why people ask for advice then when I give it they either ignore it or argue against it.
But then I don't know all that much about TL's

The 97 carbed TLR sucked big time...+ it had those weird badges on the tank; -HONDA- .

Your 98 should not have a pre recall CPU, there is no gain to be had, and it will be erratic.

What I think is the only difference between the 97 and 98+ that could make a very small difference in -feel- is that the 97 as a round throttle cable attachment vs an oval shaped attachment for the later years.
So the 97 would be just a little bit more abrupt whit the same twist of the throttle and the 98+ just a tiny bit smoother.
But otherwise they should have the same output ect.

When I just got mine and was looking to smooth out the delivery I was considering the switch.
But now with the many mods I don't need it anymore.
What really made it smooth is the addition of a plasma booster; http://www.okadaprojects.com/usa/products_booster.htm
And a bunch of other ignition boosters...
