  • Electrical Troubles Ahead?

I noticed while riding that my Gauges (Stock TLS) seem to be wavering... by this i mean dimming and going back to original brightness....

When I roll on the throttle, it does get better..

When I turn on the blinkers... it does it again.. if I use the brake.. same thing...

New battery needed? just re-charge? or could this be something more serious?

Sounds like mine just before the voltage regulator recifier died. Also check all the grounds and go to www.Electrex.com web site and download there trouble shoot guide it will help you find bad wiring and test the alteranator and regulator.

Search for a bad connection first, especially grounds. If you have a multimeter look at the voltage level of the battery before starting the bike and then while running and at different RPM's to make sure it rises and stays pretty steady.

Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight mine vibrated loose and caused my bike to run bad. Had the same thing with the gauges and eventually my blinkers started flashing faster with higher rpms

Mine has been doing that since I bought the bike in 2000 and it hasn't died yet, I am going to pick up another rectifier just in case.

Check the rectifier, but also check the battery. Has it every been replaced since you have owned the bike? If not, it may be dyin. Also check to see if there is any build up around the terminals, if there is....you are probably better off with a new battery.

              Rectifier

Did you ever figure out exactly what the problem was. My bike is doing the exact same thing and all tests point to the rectifier at this point.

I agree...I had one go on one of my previous bikes (also a Suzuki ), and the symptoms sound exactly the same.
