  • decals?

heres a question. i e-mailed this guy on a certain sportbike decal site and asked him why he didnt have a tlr decal pack? he said that he was actually planning on doin that and if i gave him the dimentions of all of the decals that he would send me a free set. sweet i said so i measured and took pics of the decals and sent them too him. he said it should take 3 or 4 days before he has a finished prodict and he would send me the 1st set. woohoo. provided he didnt just use me(i hate being used for sex....i mean decal measurements ) well here is my question. im too lazy to take of the decals if i dont have too cause thats a pain in the ass. ill never do it again. so im getting them in chrome. can i just lay them over the existing ones after i alchohal the plastics? i dont want it to look tacky but on the tank for example i have no other option really. how will they hold up? there free so i wount be THAT worried about them.

the stockies on the tank are cleared over so you can place them right over the old ones...IF they are exacly the right size (just a tad off and you r screwed)

i would take them off th fairings, ect. it's not hard to do and will look alot better

I took off all the stickers on my 2001 in half an hour.

If you dont have a blowdryer, now is the time to invest in one.

Get the stickers warm and they peel right off, then you can use some wd-40 to remove the glue.

Don't cover the stockers, it will prolly look bad:dunno JMHO

        bring the heat

I tried a hair dryer but it didn't come off that well. May try a heat gun next.

Jason, you should have asked, there must be quite a few people on here with the TLR decal file, you cold have given him a copy of that for your freebies and wouldn't have had to do anything.

if you got no wd40 to hand for sticky bits,,,fuel works just as well or better,,

Just dont smoke whilst doing this

Its amazing how much crud fuel will shift,,Grease,Oil, Brake dust,,,

Hang on a second,,,dont try this on plastics,,,until someone has confirmed that it wont melt the abs fairing,,,,

but it did work a treat on my stickers that where on tank and swingarm

It won't melt the ABS, but ANY residue left behind will need to be cleaned off before applying any decals. Denatured alcohol works as a surface prep, should remove any thing that's there. Then mix a solution of water and a drop or two of dish detergent. Use this on the surface when applying the decal...it'll buy you a little extra time if you have to reposition the decal.
                    Good luck...
