How the hell do I get my TL1000R to stop backfiring? It is getting bad. I have no mods yet, it is a stock 99. When i first bought it this summer, it did it a little but now it does it anytime I'm over 5000 rpm and let off the gas completely or even when I shift.
    What gives?

well the pair valve will only cause it to backfire if you have after market pipes on it. You said it is stock right? If it is stock I would check for exhaust leaks!

you probably have rotten exhaust gaskets by now. Couple new ones ane you'll be all set.

's take out the pair valve, just cause

It will still POP with the stock cans, it's just quiter and you don't hear it. With louder pipes the POPPING will also be louder and more noticable. As the packing wears out on the stock can you will notice the popping more than before.

the gaskets are still a good thing to check.

I shot blue flame out of my Yosh system before I removed the PAIR.
It looked cool at night, but cool gives way to potential damage to my bike. (yet another reason that I have not practiced wheelies)
