  • boost sensor wire

i found a wire unplugged in my TL that was a boost sensor wire. i plugged the wire back in but now my bike shuts off in the middle of running. no power goes to the ignition. i was wondering if its because of that wire. im using a power commander with vance & hines pipes so im not sure if the mapping couldve caused that boost sensor wire to shut off my bike. any thoughts?

    thanks

    Boost wire?

Is the FI light comming on? If so grab a C code and post it. Tried removing the PCII?

                i would say....
(you have to consider this is only a semi educated guess mind),

that if she was running perfectly before the "Boost wire" was plugged back in,

                then simply unplug it..!!

didn't you know that you are not allowed to connect the boost wire for road use as it is totally unfair to other bikers...
as they struggle to keep up when tillers are in standard trim...

update: no power to dash or ignition

Can anyone tell me what exactly the boost wire is for?
Well the bike power came back on suddenly when I tried it one day, it was totally random. My mechanic is the one that took the boost wire off. But yet again, the bike shut off while parked in Neutral in my driveway and is having the same problem again.

Any thoughts? Well Im gonna have him take off that wire but I wanted to know if there was something simple I wasnt catching.

                  Thanks

unless our bikes come with a hidden turbo I cant imagine what this boost wire is. Probably the GPS? But then again would the bike run with it disconnected?

i garuntee there is nothing in the TLR manual that has anything resembling a boost wire...

this sounds suspciously like the old pink wire mod that gixxers did, if that's the case, your fucked...cause that wire does something different on TLs

either ID that wire, or unplug the PC2, it could be either one.

there was a misunderstanding. the boost wire wasnt disconnected after talking to my mechanic. so apparently i guess its something electrical. ill explain the problem in detail:

basically, i start the bike it runs for a while, sounds fine. then suddenly (in neutral and parked), the engine stops. at that point, there is no power to the dash or the headlights. i turn the key to the off position and then to the on position and the bike still doesnt start. i couple of weeks later i try to start it again and the bike starts. but when it does start this time, it shuts off again right in the middle of running. again, the dash is not lit up and there is power to the front of the bike. if i turn the key to the 'park' position the back light comes on as expected.

                              mods to the bike:
                              pcII power comamnder
9 amp batttery (i was told hte standard is 12)
                              vance and hiines slip ons

i fitted the stock ones back on and took the power commander off but wont know whether this makes a difference until the bike starts again. im hoping its a simple electrical problem and not somethign seriously wrong with this bike.
