you can do it yourself if you're mechanically inclined. do the tappet check 1st and buy or if you're good w/ your local dealer, trade shiims.

buy the manual and do it yourself. i was a slacker and did mine at 20 and 40K.
when you check them you may find you dont need to adjust and it will only cost you the gasket set $40??

It is a freebie of no shims are required. Not even a gasket set. The rubber valve cover gasket is reuseable. The gear driven cams lift out. The rear cylinder is a piece of cake. The front a bit of a pain due to fairing removal and radiator.

I recommend you remove the rad, although it is possible to do it with it in place and pushed out of the way. Don't want to screw up and puncture that baby.

If you get it apart and spaz, we will help you. Once you have done it, you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

It will need a valve check. Chances are good it will need little if any adjustment. N2Wheelies TLS (which gets drag raced at organized events quite often) has over 40,000 miles and the valves were still in spec when he looked at them recently.
