  • Rear sprocket??

Tried ordering a 41 tooth hardened steel sprocket form local dealer. Ordered wrong one. Can locate a 41 tooth sprocket specialist, aluminum? had bad luck with a 40 tooth alum. Never stood up and teeth got wore bad. Question is will this Sprocket Specialist stand up better?

Yeah, I just received my Titan Tough (hard anodized) coated 41t rear from Sprocket Specialists. I think coated aluminum sprockets are fine and worth the weight loss over steel .

I wouldn't say that. I have heard so many negatives about alum sprockets, but I have had zero problems with any of the ones I have ever used. If you keep your chain adjusted and lubed PROPERLY, they will hold up just fine. I have over 6 thousand miles on my Vortex 41t sprocket. It looks good as new.

I switched from Sprocket Specialists to Renthal and am really happy with them. I ran them on both of my TLS's and now on my TLR. They last long are really light and look cool with the anodising.

I put a brand new vortex fron 17 and 42 rear on with a new EK X Ring chain.. I check and lube my chain evErytime I return from my rides.. I was painting my wheels the other night and All of the teeth on the rear were cupped and a few missing.. I was warned that this would happen with my bike but thought no way... Well they prooved me wrong. A TLR will just eat the shit out of tires and aluminum rear sprockets. I'll try a 520 steel then if that fails screw it...

I stay with the steel for longevity. Unless your racing, the weight savings doesnt mean dick!

I definately can agree on eating tires. My TLS chews them up and spits them out. I guess I have always been lucky with sprockets I guess.

Vortex sucks. My R6 tore threw 2 in one summer.

                    I've got a S.S. black Alum 520 on mine with 13K.

Well, sorry about everyone's bad luck. I can't, however, trash a product that's treated me perfectly. Based on my experience, it's been a great product.

Most likely. My bad luck is w/ cars and exhaust manifold leaks.

That's gotta suck on these newer cars. You'd have to pull the engine and open the truck to have the room to do it.
