  • Everybody wants to know...

Nope, no the new SVs! Hah something a bit closer to home.

Everyone was talking helmets the other day and I would like to share a story.

I purchases a slightly used Shoei helmet off of ebay for the express purpose of painting it to match my bike.

I got the helmet in the box with the warrantee card. It really was like new. I promptly sent it to my painter who lost some pieces putting it back together.

I called SHoei and explained the situation. They asked me to send it back to them at my expense for shipping and they would take a looka t it. So swallowing what I thought was going to be a chastising and subsequent charging to fix what I had broken I packed it up and sent it to them.

To make a long story short, they not only replace the missing bits, but they wnet ahead put it all together, replaced a worn part, inspected it for safety and shipped it back to me no charge with a nice letter explaining exactly what they did.

Talk about customer service. So for $18.50 I got a certified from Shoei helmet and they got mucho good Karma.

Now the only other helmet company I could think of that would do this is maybe Arai.

Anyone else have a great customer service story from HJC? Sumoy? Etc.

I will probably never buy another brand helmet again. It has been a couple of days and I am still floored.

I have two helmets that I ride with...
The first one I bought was an Arai Rapide L with excellent venting on the front, however, it was very cold in the winter...
So I got a Shoei X8-spIII and I was suprised how well it was ventilated with just the small openings it had!
I mean the flow of air keeps me just as cool and its pretty easy to breath even in the heat and humidity over here (Japan).
The only thing that is getting on my nerves are the plastic screws that Shoei uses to hold the tooless face sheild mechanism together with, because in just a few short months I've had to work on the damn thing four times so far (and that's not easy when the instructions are in Japanese). One time it happened when I was at the shop I bought it from and they fixed it but I couldn't watch them cause they took it into a back room (they were either pissed at it or gave me a new one, who knows)
            Just a few mods:

            Silver, the fastest color!

On the inside - HID type bulbs, K&N filter, Iridium ix plugs, 16T front sprocket, Coerce billet sprocket cover, Yosh re-map +5, +5, +5 11 o'clock, Scorpio SE-i500 system from my GB and an ATRE.

On the outside - TLR forks, front carbon fender, 5/8th master brake cylinder, black SS brake lines (frnt & rear), braking waves all around with Ti bolts, Brembo gold front calipers & a busa gold rear caliper, flush mount signals (frnt & rear), ZG DB scr

Had a HJC Spiderman bought for me at Xmas. Noticed a couple of weeks ago the strap was starting to fray slightly from pulling it thru the D rings - It wasn't much and wasn't a safety issue They have replaced the complete helmet at no charge plus sent a tinted visor worth £30 ($45) for the inconvenience. My local dealer(whom it was purchased thru) also gave me a couple of baseball caps, key fobs, stand puck and some golf balls for as he put it "the pissing about".
You can't beat good service and it's worth paying a bit more for your kit if you get this sort of backup!
God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I am so far behind I will never die!

The best gift you can give your children is your time........ride safe

                      SWEET!
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Yeah, we were both riding there with the R1 Forum at the same time... Notice the markings on the cliff face are even the same?
