The 1000SV is a '97 and I believe the SW is a 98, or newer, model.

Other differences were the ECU ('97's were recalled for the newer one).

Fairing stay bracket and steering damper, OEM on the '98+ models, recall retro fit to the 97's, shit design.

Possibly a minor frame tweak up the front to stop cracking near the headstem :dunno

99+ TLS got the TLR 6 spring clutch, 97 and 98 are 5 spring units.

98+ Got pair valved in some markets.

Wiring loom change for the GPS.

Crankcase breather system got changed after 97 too. They went from bad to just as bad.

Temperature sensor in the 97 was in the radiator which gave the ECU low temperature readings, it was moved to the thermostat housing for the later models.

Different temperature range thermostat was also fitted in the 98+ models.

There's probably more, that's all I can think of right off the top of my head.
