  • Thoughts on Fuel Injection

I was wondering how every one felt about the different fuel injection boxes out there, mainly TFI box, Yosh Box, Power Commander II and TEKA box. I am leaning towards a PC II but it seems that a lot of people feel it is overly complex. Thoughts, ideas and comments greatly appreciated!

TEKA is complex too, but is removed from the bike and can be used on more than one bike and one bike type.

I've always had great luck with the Yosh box. I own one and map a lot bikes around here. Granted it's just seat of the pants, and you really need a dyno with an EGA (Exhaust Gas Analyzer) to get it perfect etc. and so on but......
I think for the average street bike it's more than enough. Not to mention if you know someone with a box you can get it done for free in about five minutes time.
The PC's are really cool in that they are so adjustable and you can really customize.

hmm I guess I am still torn between wanting to get the most out of my bike for the price but at the same time I don't want to make it so complicated I can't tweak it on my own

I do know that a Motec M4 will plug into the existing loom with the posibility of having to relocate or modify the crank position sensor, well they have to on a GSXR600, don't know bout the TL. You also should add an O2 sensor into the exhaust. Closed loop, fully programmable efi ...tasty

                PCII.

It has the same adjustment capabilities as a box full of main jets, Air jets, Idle jets, Needles, adn slide springs....

Yes, I am showing my age. Way back when Sportbikes came out with a thing called carburetors...

Anyway, I like the PCII. It allows me to fine tune the injectors on my TL's, and has done wonders to my friends GSXR750. I have tuned 4 bikes with the PCII now, and as long as you have patience, it is a GREAT tuning tool. For a guy that tuned carbs, the PCII is SUPER easy in comparison. It would take me an average of 2 weeks to get a bank of carbs running right, with the PCII I can get it right in a day.

I have a PCII, I am using the map from the two brothers website, It took just minutes to "tune" my bike. It made a VERY noticeable improvement in the low RPM stumbles, I can short shift all day under 4000, (even 3000) and it never hesitates. It also starts on the 1st try, (and stays running) Before it would always take 3 trys on a cold start. I am very pleased to say the least. I wonder how much better a custom map could be ?

I'd say go with the PCII. I have some good maps for you to try out if you get it too. Depending on your mods of course. I unhooked my PCII one day to see what it was like to ride the bike with no mapping and it was a dog. With the PCII it absolutely rips.

I have a Yosh box.. And it works great. It's EASY to use and can get you going in 5 minutes. It's not as adjustable as the Teka or the PCII. I do like that you DON'T have to leave anything on the bike.

That said.. I would LOVE to have a Teka unit so I could make the fine adjustments.
