  • Thoughts on the Joe V Airbox mod

Who here has done it, and what are your thoughts on it. I just don't want to waste my time, if I will end up switching it back....

I did it before Joe V put his name to it. Next time I'd do everything except for trimming the base plate, which once mapped gives a better airflow and for a steadier response across the rev range.

Did it and switched to K&N filter also, I notice a difference even without a remap. Will get her remapped this winter and then the difference should be even bigger.

So waspo, you are saying not to follow the guidlines of trimming the baseplate? And what type of filters do you guys like...I know on some bikes people have lost performance with the K&N...I have also heard good things about BMC

i did a version of the joe-v airbox mod (didnt trim entire base-plate, just where the air passages are) and think it works well. i use a bmc air filter, have full m4, mapped with pc2.

go for it, its free power in my opinion.

Same as the alien- Trim the baseplate around the air intakes (where the flappers were - this is the way the Joe V mod is supposed to be) and replace the stock filter with a BMC Race. You'll be very happy with the results!

                        Good luck!

Joe Veale has worked on my bike twice for free and he really knows the ins-and-outs of the TL. I spoke with him last week. He is a class act and any TL info. he gives you is good info.
