  • TLR forks

Okay I was replacing fork seals in my buddies 98 Tiller . I have a 98 GSXR750 and know my way around the gixxer forks . My question is , how many washers / shimms are in the bottom of a stock set of forks ? ? ? He bought the forks off of EBAY last summer and they just started leaking . My GSXR had 1 washer / shim at the bottom ( under spring ) , His had 5 !!!!!! . I just want to know why !!!! Is it commom on the tillers or did someone try to stiffen up the from forks ??

    Thanks , Mike

The TLR forks (and 'Busa) are setup stock for heavier riders. 175-200? They also have stiffer springs than others stock. That may be why you are running into that difference.

I'm not sure what you're talking about.
The TLR forks don't have any washers under or on top of the spring. Are you talking about the shim stack/cartridge?
Where exactly are the washers you're talking about?
