  • What do you think of this?

Would it be possible to build a chopper using the TLR motor? Nothing too fancy, just a regular cruiser type frame, drag bars, 5 gallon tank, 240 rear tire, chain drive and everything......I mean everything painted black.

Anythings possible when you start throwing money at it. Last night I saw a chopper built from a late 70's cb750.

Build it and they will come!
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

it would be hard to disguise all the crap a TL motor needs to work, like radiators, wiring harness, computer crap, air box, blah, blah, blah.............but anything is possible if you have enough money.

I guess you could. I would be one tough chopper.

You could get a feel of it by removing one disk, fit a single four potter caliper, replace the fork springs with tubes, back your rear preload off all the way and put a square tyre on the back

I don't see why not....I was actually thinking about this just last week. I think a full on, rigid frame, Jesse James style chopper with a TL motor would be cool.....

It could be done of course, but we're walking about a 90 V .vs a 45 V that the Harleys use. It would have to be a little longer I would think.

You'd end up fabricating a frame at least, but you could source a tank, forks, and misc stuff from the aftermarket.

This stuff is NOT cheap though.. I thought about building my own bike, but it's just WAY too much money to build one from parts.. For the same price I could buy 5 used vMax's..

How does this work for you? This is the idea I came up with for my build. I'm still debating weather to go rigid or sprung but I've figured out how to make it work either way. The backbone is a 2 piece wishbone style. The top motor mounts attach to the back bone through a drop down mount. At the bottom are 2 spindels. I've come up with a motor plate design that bolts to the 2 rear motor mounts and then bolts into the frame via the spindals. The plate wraps around the botom of the motor and shoud add some needed rigidity to the frame while spreading the load from the rear end through the entire structure. It uses Full TL runing gear and the seat hight should be around 20-25 inches. Also it's gona be a jockey shift with a suicide clutch.

I think you're going to need a bigger radiator

Cool concept though.. mount plates for the bottom.. You could fit that up then just "drop" the rest of the bike on top of it.

exactly what I was going for. Makes removal and maintnence easy when the time comes.

The seat isn't drawn in. I'll be adding an old school solo spring seat kind of like the ones on 50's pan heads

That concept looks awesome dude But it looks like I'd need a riser and pull back handle bar instead of a drag bar
