  • Bike Design Sliders, New failure mode

Here's what TLS/TLR Doug posted on the ezboard about a fault he found in one of his Bike Design Sliders.

    Over to Doug...

Those of you familiar with the other sites that end in Planet remember discussions about the failure of Bike Design No Cut sliders when their TLR's tipped over in the garage or at very low speed. Well, today I was wiping the fairing on my TLR and bumped the left slider and it moved! This sucked, so I took the fairing off and the below pictures are what I found. My TLR has never been down. I run a lot of High RPM, I do lots of wheelies, but it seems the big hunk hanging out on the slider was vibrating or just plain put so much force on it that it gave way. Not a metalurgical type, but it is a crack or brittle type failure, not ductile. But now it is pretty soft.

Anyway, here are the photos, enjoy.

P.S. Someone might consider informing the Planet guys about this......feel free to link to my photos.
It was in this thread http://pub141.ezboard.com/ftlownersb...cID=6606.topic if you want to ask him about them.

That is pretty piss poor when they fail on a bike that has never been down! I guess that TL vibration got to 'em.
