  • Dragged my shoulder...

Just finished washing my baby last night, thought I would do some very light braking to get the slippery stuff off the discs before I hit the road.... went once and no problem, thought I would do just one more.

A little throttle and very light on the brakes..... then I hit some sand/gravel stuff which I didnīt see because all the water and stuff I had used washing her had made the asphalt too dark. Front lost the grip and I went down on my left side at maybe 10-15 mph

I didnīt get so much as as bruise even but my love got it a little worse....

    left mirror scraped
    clutchlever broken
    bar end scraped
left side fairing scraped and a small hole
    left header minor scratch
    left yoshi pipe scraped
    sidestand scraped
    gear shift lever broken
    swingarm minor scratch
frameslider bent(?!?!) and scraped (bike-designs nocut sliders are f*cking POS!!)

also dragged my shoulder a little so my jacket is a little scratched there, but no holes or anything and no bruises on me (Alpinestars )

Sheīs fine to ride with just a new clutchlever and gearshift lever but the fairing and the pipe donīt look too good and itīs really hard to find parts for these bikes here so to fix it myself (buying old parts) is going to be too expensive, Iīm gonna have to use the insurance on this one even though I really donīt want to.

This is the first time eating asphalt for me in my 13 years of riding, and it was such a supersquidly thing to do also. It would feel better if I really crashed or something, Im sooo f*cking pissed at myself!!

I will ride her the rest of the summer with the rashes but then Iīm going to have to leave her to the dealer and the insurancecompany to have everything fixed. I would really rather fix it myself but used parts are hard to come by here and they cost way more than they do for example in the U.S., so I feel I have no option really.

This whole thing is making me feel disgusted with myself.

    / I. Diot

Seeing your damages in the pic and how beautiful she looks in your more recent pics makes me feel better at heart, I know my bike is going to be fixed back to the same or better condition than before, it just sucks anyway, you know (its going to take time and money)....

sliders are not ment to protect your fairing... is your frame ok?
say it with me frame - slider ....... they really should invent fairing sliders.. but they would look like trick pegs on a bmx !
If you got the no cut version i agree they do suck cause the bend and go into your frame.. which kinda defeats the purpose...

Sorry to hear about the crash... You might want to get a really good frind to kick yourself in you butt, cause i'm sure you feel you deserve it . Ebays your friend now ...

Yeah, thats what Iīm so disappointed with, that theyīre so weak that they bent from a minor fall ?!

I hear ya, I just have to dwell in my misery for a day or two... then Iīll go out and get a new clutchlever and shiftlever so I can at least ride again.

Actually, good sliders do protect your fairings. No cut frame sliders are not good so they don't protect your fairings as a bonus like the cutting type do. For my money, I would rather buy the ones that also do what their name doesn't imply.

P.S. Sorry about the crash J-bone.

Good news. I was lucky enough to find a left side fairing, same year and color as mine, at a decent price. I havent seen it yet but I think its in the same good condition as the rest of my other fairings. Also found clutchlever, bar-end and mirror in good condition at a nice price.

Also, the insurance company will deduct whatever parts I buy and replace the damaged ones with, from "the-amount-you-pay-when-you-use-your-insurance" (dont remember the name in english ) .

So it means that as soon as the damages have been inspected I can replace the parts myself, saving the insurance company a lot of money, and get the amount of my expences back from them later.

And that way I can get her semi-fixed without having to leave it at the dealership until winter comes, and then get the expensive things fixed by the insurance company during winter(the exhaustpipe and swingarm).

                              Things are looking brighter already
