  • Places to ride

    All--

My buds and I are trying to find some good roads to ride somewhere within about 4-6 hours of Detroit. Last year we went down to Deal's Gap and had a blast, but this year we don't have enough vacation to get more than 2 1/2 days of riding in (we waste almost 2 days driving there and back). Specific roads/locations are best...any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

We used to go on an annual trip to Buffalo, NY until one of the buddies moved over here. Not too bad around there, but kinda looking for something else. I'll check out pashnit...thanks. Keep those suggestions coming

CD - I went to school @ WMU and there were some fun roads out that way - South Haven and such - What about up by Harbor Springs along the lake and sheeyat? We would do the K-Zoo to S Haven ride 5 x's a week and always had fun.

Ahhh the old college days - A CBR 600 and a Ninja 250 all bought w/illegally earned $$$ - Man I miss those days

Thanks for the info...we had done a weekend type run a few years back to Traverse City and such...that was ok, but we kinda floundered 'cuz we didn't know our way around. I will put it on the list though! Thanks again...keep 'em coming guys, much appreciated

I was just up north (Indian River) and could help out with some kick ass roads up there if you go! I would stay in Charlevoix and head out to explore some of the local roads. I put up a fairly lengthy thread in the Michigan forum in Cycleforums.com-->Sportbikes-->Midwest states if you want to check it out. There are some great roads up there!!

                        Gap

Hi boys...just an imposter to your site. I hate to admit it, but a ride a four-banger 929RR so I don't sound as cool as the rest of you. But I am one of CD's buddies, and I have to agree with this last post. Quit the job and go to the Gap for a full week. Maybe month. Year perhaps?

                        Nice meetin' you all...

Head north of Toronto - up into the Muskoka region. PLENTY of wild roads up there. Muskoka Rd. 3, 518, 128/118, 141 south of Rosseau, etc...

Grab a local map if you head up that way, and you'll go crazy.

Check the message board at www.sportbikerally.com for info on some of the roads up that way.

CD - when are you planning on this trip? I ask because there is going to be a group of riders heading up to Mancelona sometime in mid to late Spetember to hit the roads up there. The more the merrier!
