  • TLS engine swap questions.........

I have a '97 tls and will be attempting to do a engine swap with a motor from another 97 tls. I've never attempted a job like this and I'm just looking for pointers. I have the workshop manual and have read everything over and it looks straightforward.....seems that there is only one 'special' tool that I will need to order from suzuki, is this correct?

Anything anyone thinks I should know before I get into this?

Also, my only available method for getting the bike off the ground are front and rear pit bull stands.......do you think I will have enough clearance when it comes time to drop the motor?

    Any suggestions/tips...would be appreciated.....

I'm no mechanic but I think the stands will not raise you bike high enough...
If you take almost everything else off (wheels and such, the heavy stuff) you'll prolly be able to lift the frame over the engine when it comes out...

I would think that you could lift the frame off of it.

Should be plenty to put the motor in. I have done it numerious times (both R and S) with only a rear stand and 2 jack stands.

-if you have the kind of front stand that allows you to remove the wheel... use it. If not, use 2 jackstands (one under each fork leg) and remove the front wheel. This makes it a shit ton easier

          sorta like this...
