  • Two Brothers install help

Ok, this isn't supposed to be this difficult for just slip ons (bolt ons as the case may be) They include a black bracket, just a small rectangular piece with two holes in it, it's supposed to mount on the back side of the OEM pipe mount, facing rearward, and then the new TB band clamps mount to this piece. Well I can't get any of it to line up right, even with all the bolts loose. the TB band clamps are pre bent to fit the oval shape of the canister, If I let them position themselves, the mounting tabs are no where near that new bracket they supply. Those clamps are kinda soft, and I can pursuade them to move a bit, but another problem, is that when you bolt the new band clamp to their black bracket, the band clamp tabs hit the OEM pipe mount, that black bracket needs to be slightly longer, or they should use narrower pipe clamps. I have tried all different combinations, thinking the instructions were wrong, But I can' t get it to go together It's hard to tell from the pics, but The bolts are at a slight angle, so I cannot tighten them, or it just pulls the brackets closer, and jams up.

Another thing I noticed, is that it appears these will tuck in towards the tail like the stock pipes did, I have seen so many that appear to come straight back without angling towards the tail, is this a mod people do to their brackets? or is that just the way the Two Brothers are supposed to be? just like stock.

The reason you can't get it on is because the band clamps go on either side of that rectangular bracket.... one is in the front... the other is in the back.

You are overthinking a simple thing. The band clamp ends do not go on the same side of the bracket.

Maybe its a design problem with the Blue TLR.

      You're welcome.

yes, your right, but that actually made it worse, because with one tab on the other side of that bracket, it pulled everything down lower, the way it's pictured seemed to fit the best, however my biggest concern is that the band clamps are binding against the factory mount, maybe the tabs need to be "sandwiched" in there some how, instead of next to each other.

Maybe this shot will illustrate my problem better.

put the black rectangular bracket in between the two tabs. That is how they are assembled. You will need to persuade the bands around the cans a bit.

ah ok I see what you are saying...

slide that front tab under the stock bracket a bit. I did mine a while ago... but I may have done that. Or... take a dremel and grind off the front tab a bit to shape it around the stock bracket. I have to wait until I get home to see what I did.

BTW, in that last shot, I was holding one tab on each side of the bracket, per the instructions, she just isn't cooperating !!!

Yeah, I'm sure with a little work I can get it to fit, but I am a little upset, for what these things cost, I expect something as simple as a steel bracket to fit right.

When I got mine they had sent me entirely the wrong brackets. 5 mins on the phone and the new ones were on the way. Be sure this didnt happen to you too. Once I got the right ones everything was way easier

Yeah, actually I did, and that seemed to work, but then I figured I would try it their way, there must be a reason they include the extra bracket??

How can I tell ? This is Kinda B/S for the money they charge. The Bassani exhaust on my Cobra fit perfect, and it's much more complicated with all the bends and through the cutouts in the bumper.

I looked at mine last night. I slipped the front side tab under the stock bracket... I guess I was lazy that day.

I just installed mine that way, with the tab under the bracket, I was pulling and tugging while my wife tightened the bolts, I can't get the left side to match the right, the worse part is that the whole can needs to be rotated, which isn't possible since the four bolts that hold it onto the pipe prevent that, The bike is new, it has not been dropped, the factory pipes were straight, and symmetrical, I can't say I'm happy with the quality of these cans. The band clamps don't fit will, they are tight in some spots, and actually have gaps in other spots, similar to if you used a round clamp on an oval can, and vice versa, The clamps were oval shaped, but they sure don't fit the can, This is pissing me off. And the left pipe is closer to the fender than the right, I have been "tweaking" it for a while now, holding it while my wife retightens, I can' t get them symmetrical.
