  • Monster TL?

    Hey all!
I woke up with a crazy idea this morning - What would a TLR look like with a Monster Rear end? So with my infinite MSPaint prowess (i.e. pathetic) I made a quick mock up... I really like it! It still needs exhaust hangers (and a left exhaust ) but as i said I'm not really great at this sort of thing yet... Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the TL's attitude and stance, I've just always looked at the rear end in photos and thought that it could do with a little "lightening up" so to speak. It doesn't seem to stand out so much in the flesh but is a big part of people thinking it's a huge bike. I know some guys won't like the loss of our characteristic duck tail... but I think even with the loss of it, the tl attitude is still totally there. I imagine there would be a lot of work in doing it, but it would make for one hell of an individual ride!

So whaddaya think? or ? SD I used your bike cause I think it's the best looking TLR out there, if you have a prob just PM me and I'll take it off, that or I have no hassel with one of the administrators taking it off

That big muscular front followed by that tiny ass looks kinda funny IMHO.

Ya know what would be cool in my world though? A black framed TLR naked sit up bike with all the overflow bottles, wires, radiators and crap somehow integrated cleanly. The big beam frame, some upright tubular handlebars, gear it down so it tops out at 150 or so.

That would be a wheelie wild ride. Kinda like a Tuono, but beefier

yeah true when you point it out like that... lol. Yeah i was thinking of the naked idea too - you'd have to be a pretty good plastic moulder... although you could always change, etc to look more integrated... like have a billet overflow bottle... here's a gixxer with what you're talking about done to it, bar the black frame... has an Ixil undertailwhich I personally think it would look better without

the hump makes the TL :dunno

Nice pic though jezza The tail look a little out of proportion, but I like the way the pipes and tail are the same length.

            Go for it!

You mean like this? BTW, you don't need an overflow bottle. Just cut the hose back, put a screw in the end and clamp it. Works fine.

I often thought of giving this rear a try.

Yeah, it's filthy. I know. I ride it everyday. Plus it rains to damn much down here. Not worth the effort. Once I have a car again maybe I'll have time to do stuff like that. Untill then, I'm gona keep beating the ever living piss out of it.

Jezza, there's a fairing manufacturer in France that makes a tail for the TLR that looks something like that. Saw one a few years ago. It was made from structural CF and replaced the subframe. Very cool looking and well-made. I used to have a link to their website but my pc crashed 10 times since then.

Maybe one if the old hands like 2nv can help?

What...trying to be as cool as me?

I'm actually suprised as how many stock monster seats/cowls are on ebay these days. I'm going to the shop tomorrow to start fabricating/welding in all the new cross members and the new subframe to fit the monster seat. IF your interested, I'll try and keep track of my measurements so you had a rough idea of if it would work before you start buying up all the bits you'd need.
