  • 1/4 mile times @ san antonio raceway!

hey. i made it out tonite and ran 4 times. this is the 1st time i ever dragged a bike and i was proud of myself although my buddie w/ an 03 sv1000s beat me by one tenth of a second every run (and its stock. i did not take any air out either.

    1- reaction .9 1/4 time 11.99 1/4 speed 119
    2- reaction.8 1/4 time 11.92 1/4 speed 118.6
    3- reaction .5 1/4 time 12.12 1/4 speed 119.7
    4- reaction1.06 1/4 time 11.93 1/4 speed 119.4

doh the 4th run sucked cause the gu y set the tree off way too fast. my buddie did the same thing. when we looked up it was on the last yellow ha oh well im gonna go back when i get her mapped. but it was an awesome time. had fun runnin w/ the sv even though he was in front of me the whole time!!

Good Times , drag racing is not easy and its good to see real world times. MPH and ET can both be improved from where you are on a stock bike so keep at it .
Reaction time does not effect your ET as your time is measured from when you start to roll . I n practice sesion dont worry too muct about Reaction Time , Just try and find the RPM shift points that give best ET & MPH . That will probably mean changing before the the limiter cuts in . Use the Torque of the Engine.
My Old GTX will run 14.3 sec in drive , as its still got the stock California emissions ( read lean ) Carb , shifting it myself at higher RPM just slowed it to about 14.7.
The TL's have lots of torque and thats what accellerates the bike .

        Good luck

Go over to Rupes site and check out the videos, then cool vids and watch the 12 sec TL in a wheelie.

This guy makes it look easy and it's sweet too.
Don't know how it works? Take it apart and find out!

            Here's how it sounds.

not bad for ur first time,my first time was 12.5 on the first run
second run was 11.5 with wheel spin in second gear and i had hit the limiter twice, next time i hope for better times with warming the rear and staying off the limiter

You say the guy set the tree off way too early?
Remember the tree won't do anything untill you light both of the pre-stage bulbs.
It's best to just light one bulb, then get your act together (shield closed, position on the bike....) then light the second bulb when YOU are ready to go!!!!!

Drag racing is kinda fun isn't it?

That time when I took my 750, there was hardly anyone there and I bet I did at least 25 runs. It is amazing the old girl didn't blow up

good runs,I went drag racin a couple of years ago when I had a 92gsxr1100 best time I managed was 11.4 thought that was really slow it had quite a few mods, when I got home I stripped down the mikuni flatslides & 2 of the slides were broken.so I put the standard carbs back on & traded it in on the TLR,haven't taken the TL yet, this summer.
A friend of mine,he is a ex motocross racer ran a 10.8 on his TLS everyone there was quite impressed with that.

The SV is down on power compared to the TL... so you shouldn't need more power to beat him... Is he just getting off the line that much quicker? Perhaps just practice your launch, or maybe got the cable clutch conversion? I cannot get my TL off the line at all.. but refuse to go the cable clutch route..

Screw the power, go to some empty back road and practice your 1-3 gear launches, get those down as fast as possible and you'll smoke his ass
