  • TLR AND TLS guru's, which motor is this?

    Hey guys and girls!

Most of you know that I just did a motor swap on my TLR and while doing the TPS tonight, I saw the following mystery bolt. Now I don't see anything that would bolt up to this and don't know what it would be for unless it would happen to be a TLS motor?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Nothing goes there, you're all set.
The casting for the front and rear cylinder heads is the same. If that head were on the front cylinder instead of the rear, it's where the aluminum engine mount bracket would be bolted up.

The only other clue in that picture that it's an R motor is the rear valve cover.
I don't believe the S is vented like that.
Of course you could just swap valve covers but........
            I'd say you're all set.

You're talking about the threaded hole with nothing in it right?
Or are you talking about the little bolt behind it?

Ah guys the TLS and TLR motors biggest differance is that one has a air cooled oil cooler the other the R has a water cooled unit. Inless some guy spent allot of money to switch this out with special adaptors I do not think you have anything close to a TLS motor. Not sure if this was your concern or not. JFYI the 1997 had the fucked up vent system the 1998 got the oil vent system at the rear cylinder.

Going back to what Lance said about the oil coolers, the TLR has the outlets still cast solid, the TLS has the outlets drilled and tapped for the air/oil cooler, if it is a TLR motor they will be still cast solid, if it is an S motor, they'll have plugs in them.

Why did you switch it in the first place? I just cant remember if you said that or not.
                          I'm so slow I think I'm first!!!!!!!
