  • Leathers

Ive run a search and have read some opinions but for the type of country road riding I do I dont see the need for a $2000 set of custom leathers. A $600 Joe Rocket Highside 2 piece should suit fine...

Any facts or opinions I should consider before I purchase?

I have 2 suits, a JR speedmaster 1-piece ($575) and a JR Highside 2-piece ($400). I ride in the speedmaster most of the time. Feels better while riding. A little annoying while in a restaurant where the 2-piece is better since you can take the jacket off. I have crashed tested the speedmaster and it held up great in a 60mph lowside that got most of the right side from the shoulder to the knee. It's has character now! The JR suits fit stockier and/or muscular builds better. More room in the arms, chest & legs but they are a little loose in the waist for me.
Common sense is not very common.

Joe Rocket makes great stuff......but expensive leathers are expensive because they work really well. I wear RS Taichi and think they are the best sold right now.

I got my Kobe Talon leathers from 1888fastlap.com for 500 bucks. I also had a 60mph lowside in them and they held up great.
