  • New Member Introduction and Question

    Hi All,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m new to the planet and I purchased a 97 green TLS with 8k miles a few days ago. The only mods doen to the bike were a fender elimination (homemade?) and D&D carbon fiber slip-ons. I love the bike so far. It has sooo much more power than anything I’ve previously owned (like the TL’s baby brother the SV650S), and it’s really loud! I feel like I got a really good deal at $3600, and the bike seems to be in really good condition. I was hoping to get a black one, but I couldn’t turn this one down. If anyone is getting bored and would be interested in trading bodywork, I’d definitely be agreeable (I’d even pay some $$$).

I’m sure I’ll have several questions about my bike as I learn more about it. I hope to gain some knowledge from this board as I go. So here are my first two questions: The guy I bought the bike from said that it’s not a good idea to start up the engine and let it run without riding the bike. I hadn’t heard this before. Is he right and why? Also, does anyone know the paint codes for the 1997 green model, or where I can get some touch-up paint (for a couple of tiny scratches on the right fairing)? I did a search on the site, but coudn't find this info.

Thanks in advance for any replies,
    Raamses

Here are the obligatory pics of my new bike:

        Welcome

I let mine high idle until it hits at least 160f before I ride it, runs best at 180F + though , about the paint code I got no idea but would suggest the dealer would have the code, sure someone will pop in here let you know for sure though.

what's you vin number, maybe I can look it up for you.

You can check the fiches at www.ronayers.com for the paint codes.

          And Welcome

Looks good.. Now you gotta double check the PAIR valve is off, looks like it's still there on the last pic. there are block off plates in the for sale section.

Find a rear seat cowling too, they look great! I like having the grabrail also, but that's an option you'd have to order for a dealership and it's a matter of personal taste.

Oh.. And don't forget to get TLR/Hyabusa/ZX-12 6 pots brakes and an M/C with stainless lines..

Muhahaha.. You have your work cut out for you!
I've got a huge penis, You've got a huge penis, even Tim over there, yup you guessed it, huge penis. Good, now that that's out of the way, let's go ride
