  • looped a wheelie !!!

OK it wasn't me but it happened less than 5 feet in front of me.

    Here's the story

Me and 5 friends were going to a good 5 hour trip to day which I mentioned earlier.. we go about 10 minutes out and I was borded so I dropped back for some stunt practice.. My bike was running amazing and i was lifting 2nd into 3rd wheelies all day... then my buddy dropped back with me. he can wheelie usually better and longer than me (on my tlr anyway not on gixxer) He's on a ZX-9. He was really impressed with my new shifting technique and I was really getting in to some distance wheelies with me... I just finished landing a terrible wheelie that was lop sided to the right really bad 3 seconds later he attempts one behind me.... by the time he was right beside me he was 12 oclock and still on the juice.. another 5 feet infront of me and he looped her !... I had to quick dodge a tumbling body.. then pieces of the cartwheeling bike then the bike itself before i could fully stop and check on him. He was fine the full leathers did there job nicely, even though they ripped in the back above the zipper, he was in pretty good shape.. Job 1 get rid of all the witnesses.. told everyone around that we had a cell phone and that we would call the tow truck and that everyone was fine. . Job 2 get outta there before the cops showed up.. so guy with a pickup truck outta nowhere offered to get the wreck off the street and take it to his place. right down the street... saved out butts... anyway that killed the rest of the ride and we doubled him home before calling insurance. He's planning on getting a zx-10 anyway hes says.. What happened was his bike wasn't running 100% and he had the throttle pinned in 2nd gear to try and get it up.. then about half way up.. she finally kicked right in... and loop before he could do anything. He's definately not a newbie to stunting and taught me a few tricks too. I looped it at 142 and we know that cause his speedo was stuck at 142 K still when we looked at the wreck .. GAWD is so fresh in my mind... its crazy to see your best friend rag doll down the street... Anyway.. stunters, keep in the back of your mind that this can happen...
always where leather ...... and keep your bike tuned.. especially if your stunting... Ok back to getting drunk ane forgetting about this crazy day.. I'm just glad this wasn't a RIP post.

    Cheers all

yeah you always have to assume the risk of the things that are completly out of you control. My friend looped his zx7r cause his throttle jammed at WOT Didn't know exactly why it did that but while he was reassembling her he found a bolt in one of his carbs. Guess the bolt must have jammed the throttle open on his way up. Stupid previous owner You just can't control things like that.

that happens man, i looped my tls about three and ahalf months ago. If you are going to be stunting you are going to bust your ass eventually. I am by no means a "proffessional stunter", and am fact pretty amateur. But i was decent at stand ups and the tls is so easy to do it on. however, as addicting as stunting is after you start i think i will not do much more after i get my cast off......four and a half months later.

Thats why I only stunt my YZ! Not to say I don't pop the front up on the R/R once in awhile. 5th gear wheelies plenty fun in the dirt!

I wonder what the stunting vs. crashing per ridden mile is like compared to scratching vs. crashing per ridden mile?

That's not worded well, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Like someone who never hits the twisties but rides around and stunts a lot.

i would guess the scratchers get more miles between crashes. usually higher sustained speeds and stunters often use pretty small areas.

........ooh yeah, the phrase "you gotta pay to play" comes to mind. I am a stunter and i have to tell ya, i was fully expecting what happened to me last week. Not exactly the night it happened but i pretty much realized that people who have been stunting for a while have crashed at least once. I have been stunting for a little bit and fully expected a wreck sometime or another........but that gave me an excuse to start my top secret project.........dont ask, its top secret.
