Just got my new skins from www.swmototires.com
Went with bridgestone 010's. Total price was $213 (they have free shipping if you order 2 or more tires). Ordered them Wednesday and got them today. Not bad

If it doesn't make it go fast, stop fast or turn fast, it doesn't have it.

It was the best price I could find for front and rear bt010's. The free shipping is what I couldn't believe. Seriously, if you need tires they are really worth checking out. They seem to have just about every sport tire in most sizes.

It seems a lot of you guys in the US buy your tires online and get them shipped....... so where do you get them fitted - ie do you take them somewhere else for fitting or do you fit them yourself?

        Just wondering how this works

A set of Metzeler M1 Sportecs will run about the same from www.discountmotorcycletire.com as another option.

BT010's will run about $5 less than the Metzelers at $84 and $111 plus shipping.

I fit them myself! All you need is a beadbreaker, a set of tire irons, some tire lube, a balancing stand, and some sticky weights (if you want to do it all the way by the book -some folks don't balance). Considering the cost and inconvenience of having a shop fit your tires, the equipment pays for itself pretty quickly!
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a bad example.

Because of my work schedule I have them fitted at my local dealer. I can drop the wheels and new tires off and pick it up the next day. What I thought was funny was that there was no discount on mounting if I bought the tires through the dealership If they're going to charge me the same whether I buy the tires from them or somewhere else, where's the incentive to have me buy them locally?

I've done a few by hand myself but I'm getting lazy now. In Australia the fitting is included in the price at the dealer but I believe the prices are inflated (parden the pun).

Parts411 ( www.parts411.com ) has good prices on tires. In fact, they seem to be a little better than Southwest Moto Tires. To the best of my knowledge they do not, however, offer free shipping, which may negate the difference in price.

Starcycle USA ( www.starcycle.com ) also has pretty good prices and I believe they will match other advertised prices. Again, though, no free shipping.

Free shipping was the deciding factor in going with swmototires. That plus I had heard good things from other planet members.
