  • dragging hard parts on my tls.....

    I've owned two TLS's......a 2000 and now a 1997.

I never had a problem with dragging hard parts on the 2000.

On, the 97 however, the 'u' bracket that is on the kickstand drags everytime I lean hard to the left.

I'm starting to wonder if the kickstand is bent somewhere? I say this because I've noticed that the bike tends to lean over further than my 2000 when it is actually resting on the kickstand. So much so that if I fill her up with gas to the bottom of the filler neck, then rest bike on kickstand.....I'll get gas coming out the escape hole and then out thru the overflow hose......

Just wondering if anyone else is draggin their kick stand...

How's the rear preload? That wouldn't explain the angle when it's on the stand though. A low arse end would make the bike sit straighter.

Never scraped hard parts on my TLS either.

            Dragging Hard Parts

Once I put on a set of Michlin H2s I dragged the side stand even with all the ride hight adjustment possible. So take it off!

yea it's not even the kick stand that is dragging....it's the 'U' that is welded to it....the thing that you use your heel to push against inorder to put the stand down......

I haven't dragged anything on my TLS either and I am a good size fellow at 6'4", 230lbs.

See my pics below. After I saw how close my kickstand was on these pics though, I take it off on track days now. Maybe your heel part is bent like you said?

I've only touched one thing down, and it was the tip of my toe, when my foot wasn't all the way against the frame. Suprised the pee outta me, because the protek rearsets sit so high. I felt it start to drag a bit, and thought for sure I was lowsiding again.

I've lightly grazed my pegs on rare occasions on the street when riding canyons like a loon. Usually occurs while traversing a bump.

                              Must hang off more
