  • Frame Sliders?

Pierre brought up an interesting arguement in another thread. What do you all think?

Just "Bing-Bling". Does more harm than good.

Works great. No "no-cut" sliders though.

I have Motostyle sliders. Tested and proven on 0mph "laydown" Not sure about any of the other "no-cut" sliders though.

As for doing more harm than good, it just depends on how they're mounted and how strong they are, for example on my TLs they're perfect, even if they snap off there is no fairing around them to get damaged. Not too sure about TLR applications tho

All I can say is that I'd rather have my Bike Design no-cuts sliders then nothing at all.

I crash... somewhat regularly and sometimes rather roughly. I am not willing to take the chance of experimenting with "no-cut" sliders - the "conventional" ones have saved my bike from major destruction more than once.

I've heard a lot of stories about sliders doing more good than bad. I think they are definately worth it. Racers use 'em, nuff said.

Do NOT do the no-cut frame sliders - I have seen bikes lay down and BOUNCE back up flipping because the long no-cut sliders caught on the track. They are probably okay for a parking lot or driveway 'oops' kinda goof but don't do them if you want or expect them to help at the track.

Since I don't race, my Bike Design no-cut sliders are fine. They'll protect the bike in case, I don't know, you're washing it in the driveway and talking to someone on the phone and try to move the bike with one hand and the side stand folds up and you can't hold the bike up because you're slipping on soapy water. (A purely hypothetical situation -- this never happened to me! )

yes, i can sort of relate.

for me they are all no cut (S owners have an easy one here)
no cuts are better than none, but if i had an R, i'd get normal sliders. they all look crappy anyways, might as well have a pair that work as well as possible.

What is the difference between No-cut sliders and "regulars"?

regulars go straight to the fram. no cuts have a metal bracket that attach to the frame. it seems like the brackets bend and do little to help when they are needed. funny thing, my buddy put no cut sliders on his 03 r6. and he had to cut the throttle side panel
