  • heat tape for belly pan

    Hey guys,

I just got my new belly pan, THANKS TLRCRAZ1!, and want to put heat tape!? or something on it so this belly pan doesn't get fried! I went to a True Value and asked for some heat tape and the guy looked at me funny and said nope, never heard of that! LOL I thought to myself, I've heard of this $hit 100 times. The guestion is, where the hell can I find it!?

    Thanks!

I bought a roll of the stuff at ACE Hardware. Tell them you want heat resistant tape. It could also be called furnace tape or ductwork tape.

My belly pan hasn't melted from the pipes. Though the heat tape is applied to the pipes, not the plastic?
                I know nothing about bikes.

nope, heat tile is applied to the plastic, pipe wrap is applied to the pipe...

Summit has some stuff...They have some cheap tape, and some nice substantial stuff that I used. It's like a cloth almost, with an aluminized side. I just superglued it to the underside of the belly pan and I haven't had a problem since.

There's a riding excuse if I've heard one. Get onya bike!

Every shop is about a 30-40 minute ride for me, even that milkbar that's a 5 minute walk away.

any auto shop should have it. either heat tape or "header wrap" will protect the plastic from being melted. or you can go and get it ceramic coated

That'd be pretty damn cold here at 43 degrees and rain!

Sweet, you know I lie, Summer's nearly here and my bike is in my lounge room. And it would want to be a nice day on the way before I'd go out under 60F.
