    Welcome aphex

Maybe you should remove the damper and change the oil to some fresh 2.5 fork oil.

Lots of people have done it with good results. I have never done it so I can't help anymore. good luck

        soyez bienvenue!

        tyre pressures are good?
tyres not worn out? (square back tyre is bad influence on steering)

Did you blow a fork seal? Any fluid on the forks?

It's a 1997, so it might be time for some fresh springs (heavier) and a rework

Have you changed the settings lately?

Take the steering damper off and see what it's like. If it still feels really weird then check you're sterring head bearings, front wheel bearings, tyre pressures, and see if the forks are twisted in the clamps.

when mine were a little loose (head bearings) mine had a weird sensation too. i tightened them up, and now its all fine. (stock damper too)

                  welcome to the planet
