Dammit!!!!!!! Dammit!!!!!!! Dammit!!!!!!!
Today I was riding a monster wheelie.........a really really good one, second to third gear......about an eigth of a mile for a buddy of mine's kiddo. Then .............crack.......smack..........skid...... .my tail hump fell off after the mount broke! You thought I crashed, huh? Anyway, it separated clean and fell off the bike. My dealer said we will try to warranty it. I will let ya'll know. If I have to pay for it, it is $130.00. Not bad, retail is $173.00 or so. So now I have to use the rear seat for the track day and be geeky!
Here are some pictures of it.

what the hell? I've heard of seats/humps coming off but I've never seen them come apart like that. Usually that latch just lets go. So I guess that brought you back down to earth a little after getting those fancy new wheels.
by the way, yeah, I thought you crashed it!!

You broke it in a Wheelie and are going to try to get it covered under warranty?
There have been several posts on here about taking your cowl off if you wheelie because they tend to break when your ass presses against them in a wheelie.
You should suck it up and pay for it yourself, IMHO. Pretty fradulent warranty claim as far as I can see from the info here.
Just my $.02, you can keep the change.

umm, did you think about having it custom airbrushed? maybe the crusher can help ya out. that way you're a shoe in for tlotm....
anyways, sorry to hear that man. but atleast its just the hump, not the rest of the bike... is this a prob on the S models too? i put marine carpeting (leftover from my boat redo) on in the contact points with two sided 3m tape. works well, and it fits tighter too.

What horkn said. Either airbrush it and make it look nice, or keep it damaged and use it for track days......or airbrush it with your number AND use it for track days

same thing happened to mine
Hey Doug, i feel for you, thats sooo freaking frustrating!
My 1st cowl broke in the exact same way, i reinforced it a bit and then a week later it broke off during a big wheelie....i pulled over to retrieve it and watched it get hit by a truck. No pics of that mess, i just rode away from it...
So then my new replacement that i got (brand-new exact year and color off someone on the blue-board for $100) started to crack in the same places after a 12oclock wheelie...
The plastic that holds the rear bracket cracked and began to buckle...
You can see the cracks all the way through the plastic starting under the area where the metal tabs hold the main cross-bracket, same thing that made my first cowl go airborn.
~Alien_Tank
