  • MAN this TLS tick is annoying!

    Okay guys, we all know that the TL engine has a tendency to tick. We all know that it's a TL character trait and we all know that it's normal regardless of when your last valve adjustment was. My TLS started ticking at about 15,000kms and its gone from a small little tick to a symphony of ticking. I can hear it through my helmet going 120km/h and it is so annoying.

    It ain't exactly a Ducati tinkle, its just a wimpy and annoying tick that sounds like I have a couple of casino chips inside my engine.

    Can anybody relate to my venting? Is there any solace for chronic ticking TLS sufferers? I wanna know how your TL's all sound and how you guys deal with your ticking TL's.

          I cant ride without earplugs. Its just to un-nerving. I know that its normal for these, but everytime I ride without earplugs I think that mine must be the noisyest TL top end in the world. I wonder if people on the footpath think that my bike if going to drop a valve or something when I ride by them.

              Well I'm glad there are other members of ticking TL's annonymous. I'm going to try the earplugs. Hopefully they add some horsepower too...

                You thought TL was "T" for twin and "L" for the 90deg configuration? Think again.

                TL = Ticks Loudly.

                      Hey guys, I tried the ear plug mod today and it works wonders. The TL tick stopped immediately after putting in the earplugs and as a bonus, the exhaust tone turned deeper. The bike also felt like it pulled alot harder across the rev range.

                      It's good to be involved in a network of such knowledgeable and experienced mechanical geniuses. Thanx
