strange noise

so i've placed this thread in the beginner forum because i'm sure that this issue is no big deal. so, here it goes...around 4k-4.5k there is a funny noise, almost like a vibration or resonance. it's as if something is flapping. it goes away after that rpm range. anyways, if anyone can explain it, i'd appreciate it.

I just read a post in the last couple of days, either here or on the ezboard, same symptoms, the guy had new cams fitted, still the noise was there, turned out to be the flaps in the airbox rattling.

They operate at 4K too!

i figured they were the airbox flaps. i haven't had a single thing done to the bike so i'm assuming that this is the problem. when people do the valve removal in the airbox, is this the reason?

No, they do it for more airflow. Open the airbox up and get more air into the engine, then remap with a PCII etc to get more fuel in because more air is available and bingo, more power.
