Countershaft leak?

My bike has been afflicted with the infamous countershaft leak. I have a couple questions.

It's just oil leaking out right? So it's not too big of a deal as long as I clean it off every once in a while and keep the oil topped off. Is this correct?

Also, how do I fix the damn thing? I've searched for threads on it and I cant seem to find anything. Can anybody give me a hand with a link or something?

You could try looking at the fiche on this site for an exploded view. I've never had to do mine, but wouldn't hesitate getting stuck into it if I had to. I is a pretty simple job.
