  • TPS adjustment done.

As much as I love tinkering with things, very seldom does something actually come together right the first time. Today may have been the exception. I spent yesterday running all over gods green earth looking from the right bit and I was beginning to think it maybe futile. After 45 miles of driving through suburbia and 4 stores (2 two of which were Sears) I was able to find the bit! It ended up being at a mom & pop run True Value hardware store which was recommended to me by a sales guy as Sears (and 200 feet from the first place I went). Since they had a few of them I pick up some extra (look for a post in the ‘For Sale’ section) because they can be so hard to find.

    Anyway…

Found some time this morning to get things together to make the adjustments. I had watched the video (thanks Rupes) so I knew what to look for. The initial marking was in the middle at idle but did move to upper mark until ~2k RMP. A tap here, a and tap there and the next thing I know the damn thing is at the middle mark at 1200RPM and moves up at 1400 RPM! (Ok, so it was actually about 3 minutes of tapping) I tightened it down and check it again… Same thing. Too Easy.

Has it made a change? I have no idea! I probably won’t have a chance to ride until sometime during the week. Oh well, least I know the TPS is calibrated correctly. Also for shits and giggles I changed the setting on my ATRE so gears 1 thru 4 are mapped to 6th this time.

I found it fairly easy to do also. It seems Suzuki sent most of their bikes out un-adjusted as mine was just over 1900rpm before moving to the top mark.

I just adjusted mine last wkend, it was WAY OFF, the bar wasnt even in the middle to start. After tweeking and adjusting for about 20min I got the right settings and WOW!!! What a huge difference, 3k rpm stumble is gone, much smoother all around. Now i'm sorry i waited so long to adjust this...
Yeah its definately a great tune-up to do!

Search for TPS and you should find it. I think someone has it hosted.
