  • TLR Gixxer Conversion

well i finally got around to it, work solid. Sorry guys now picts...no camera! When's that raffle?!?!?! Super big to josh and mitch, and prolly lance too, since he does all the REAL work over there

The best part is when the needle does its diagnostic check when the bike turns on.

I took the gauges off the bike already, sending them off to get new LEDs, and a custom faceplate...will post picts once that's done....after i win that raffle of course

I love my GSXR gauges too..

    1) how will you mount them?

    2) where are you getting a faceplate done? I need one too.. Tell me the cost and I'll pay you for a 2nd one!

Question? IS it just a matter of changing the plug over following both wiring diagrams? Or do you need the add a couple resistors, diodes or whathave you? I would want gixxer gauges on my TLR.

        Thanks,

Crash.. Where do you get one of these
"cutsom mount oughta CF and fiberglass..." make it yourself?

          And what about the faceplate?

and to answer your question Mike, change the plug over.. plug the new gauges in. literally that simple!

its just a matter of changing the plugs...i have a hunch that the temp gauge problem is a matter of some resistors...but i dunno...i need to find someone with a gixxer (yeah, that should be hard)

the faceplate...talk to the guy at bluegauges he's cool, he'll hook you up

the mount...i'm making myself...i'll post up picts when i'm done, i supposed i could make more but i'm mounting a busa light with it too, so...

                  temp

You should be able to look up the sensor resistance when at a certain temp for each bike and just compensate with a resistor or resistors depending on whether or not it is too much resistance or too little.

                      Crash,
If you figure out the Temp thing.. LET US ALL KNOW! I could use it, especially since my TLS likes to run warm as it is.

I will walk with the guy at bluegauges.. but, since I will be changing out the LEDs myself.. he probably won't want to fix me up a faceplate without doing the LEDs too.

Last but not least... you will be mounting a Busa Headlight with the Gauge mount? I take it you will be using the GSXR fairing stay also? If so, I would like to purchase one of these from you!

But I also remember Pierre saying the Fairings held the headlight in place.. or something to that matter.

I too have all my Busa Hardware all ready to go.. and should be getting the fairings for x-mas!

well you're on the TLS, my best advice would be to get hammerit's setup, it'll save you a ton of grief! i'm on a TLR, and pierre pretty much said he wasn't going to do it for the R, atleast this was the last i heard from him. So i'm doing it myself. All my mounts are custom made by me. I'm gonna make a mold, if it comes out alright i'm sure i could make more, but like i said you're prolly better off w/ their setup.

btw, the gixxer gauges should bolt right up

                          Oh my... Goodluck to you!

I had no idea you weren't going with the HammerIt! stuff... Good Luck to you sir... that is a little more work than I would care to put up with.

What do you plan to make the mold with? Other Hayabusa Bodywork? not to mention, do you have a decent amount of experience doing things like these. Again, Good Luck!

As far as the gauges go.. The GSXR gauges bolt up to the GSXR headlight, not the GSXR fairing stay. So everything that holds it has to be custom made, or after-market (to which i laugh, it does not exist!)

                            heh, ok
gixxer gauges should bolt right up to the TL fairing stay

i'm still looking for bodywork, prolly some sort of gixxer race body work. Haven't had a ton of luck really.

molds...umm...pvc pipe, plaster, and expanding foam...gonna use that to make the fiberglass mold, then carbon it up
