Fair price
I made an inquiry at a dealership regarding the trade in value of my TLR. Based on all my mods (see sig below) and the small amount of rash on the left side due to 3 mph lowside in my garage, they offered me a whopping...........$5,000.Yeah, I know, I was already expecting to get reemed but come on. Anyway, what do you guys think a fair price would be for a private sell here in So. Cal? (I've got about 3,500 miles on it and just put on some Metzeler Sport Tec M1's, about 200 miles on them).

5k isn't that bad at all...you gotta realize that you never get back what you put in, there's hardly any value added on aftermarket parts. With the rash on the leftside, i think that's descent price...maybe not great, but its in the ballpark. Lemme put it this way, if i saw your bike in the paper, i wouldn't pay a dime over 6k...and i'd try and haggle you down a ton lower than that. Take that for what you will.

Why you wanna sell anyway?"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW, what a RIDE!!"

Thanks for all the replies guysI was at a mega dealership the other day and was just daydreaming about getting some other bike so I just asked the sales guy about my trade-in value.
I've just been thinking about it more lately. With family/work responsibilities now, I just don't have the time anymore to tinker around with the TLR. I love the bike but to get the thing running smoothly the way I want it, you need to do all/some of the following; ATRE, Power Commander (download maps, mess around with settings), sync throttle bodies, set TPS, remove pair valve and install block off plates, install manual fan switch, change coolant mixture to Water Wetter, use synthetic oil, change out the rotary damper, etc.
I've already done some of the above, along with some other stuff that I'd do no matter what bike I had (e.g. Yosh cans, galfer brake/clutch lines, windscreen, etc.).
But now that I've got the bike running ALMOST the way I want, it's just the heat coming off the rear cylinder that I can't take. I'm to the point now where I just don't want to deal with it. I'm longing for the days of my CBR 600 F3 where all I did was slap a can on it and ride; smooth, dependable, no major tinkering involved, just the normal stuff (didn't even have a cam chain tensioner problem). I guess if I was still in my early 20's, I'd love all the tinkering involved with the TLR. But now, I'm getting fed up with it.
So anyway, I'm looking at an............................INLINE 4 again. There, I said it. I want 4 cylinders instead of 2. Maybe a CBR 954 or a ZX-9R. Something where I can just slap a pipe on it and go. Don't have to worry about down low stumbles and 3rd degree burns on my inner thighs (especially the left side).
At this point, I'm still thinking about it but I gotta admit, I'm talking myself into selling the TLR more and more each day I ride it to work.Going through V-twin withdrawals.

Find yourself a good mechanic. Hell, I would take your bike into the Stealer for an oil change and ask to talk to the mechanic that is gonna do it. Ask the guy/gal if they would like to be your personal mechanic. Then off you go. Just my opinion, but I think Kawasaki has half the build quality of Suzuki. Honda is good. I also think you are crazy if you think you aren't going to mod whatever bike you own.
