I was at the track this weekend and I pulled away from a Duc 998, a Millie R and an RC51. In each instance the rider entered the in front of me and by start finish line I was past them and pulling away.

          What he said above.
I can tell you that I was chasing a RC at Roebling recently and could not run him down on the front straight without the draft, but he wasn't pulling away either. That might indicate we were close. Course everytime I race against a particular guy on a 998, he spanks my ass. ex-red bull superbike.

a TLR in stock form eats 916/996/998 Ducatis and RC-51s and Aprilias on Fuji Speedway's mile long straight - I have motor on them but then again they are lighter and take less effort to brake and turn - I agree that it is all up to the rider.

Rider, rider, rider. There are Ducatis I can munch but more SV's that totally kick my butt!

as a track marshall.. the TLR's are consistantly in the back of the pack.... but the rider is most important.. maybe just crappy riders ride TLR's where I work

That dude, Stu, won 1st place in the points championship in last years Battle of the Heavy Twins series. His TLR wasn't modded much more that many of our tricked out street bikes (i think his engine internals were stock, correct me if i'm wrong). btw, he raced on 190 rear tires, prefered them over the 180s. So that seems to indicate that the TLR can be very competitive with ducs, aprillias, rc's and the like, provided it has a very talented rider aboard.
