  • Hello Hammerit TLR/R tail, Goodbye fat butt! (Dial up beware)

I'm like a kid at Christmas. After 6 weeks of waiting, the mailman finally brought my big box from South Africa.

    Let the pic whoring begin!!!

I still have to fab up some exhaust hangers, a tail light mount, fit the undertail, prep and paint the lot, and weld some supports to the subframe so I can carry passengers. I'm painting the tail satin black to match my belly pan and hugger. Then I'll throw on some red "1000" logos.

    Stay tuned...

I´m sure you will get a lot of and posts so I guess I´ll be the one you all can on.

Dont want to be rude or negative but I really like the stock tail way better than any gixxer or other tail I have seen on a TLR. So to me, she looked better before.

Sorry, I couldn´t help speaking my mind about it but it´s your bike of course so if you like it better like this, then this is the way she should be.

        Looking sweet.

Though, Im a big fan of the "fat but" on the TLR...

It would be great if you could show som pictures of the weldel subframe when it is done. Im about to cut my own. Not that im going to carry passengers(Don´t have the seat...), but I would like to se how to reinforce it again.

No offense taken. I have always loved the way TLR's look except for the tail. That "duck tail" on the very back has always made me . It has also always bugged me that the angle of the pipes was drastically different than the angle of the tail. The new tail fixes both of these "problems" for me.

I'm not doing anything permanent though, I bought a second subframe to modify for this project. I can go back to the stock tail configuration at any time.

                Sweet Tail

Your ride will look tight once you get it all painted up. I personally love the stock tail and the trunk space.

Mark, check the box. There should be some Hammerit stickers in there along with a "L" shape bracket for the tail light. This bracket bolts onto the top of your subframe and moves the tail light up and rearwards a tad.

                      Pierre.

I dumped all the peanuts out of the box and sifted through them 3 times. It doesn't appear that the bracket or stickers made the trip from SA.

No worries though, I not using the stock tail light with this tail so I really don't need the bracket.

                            Looks great.

With all these people going for the "gap look" under the seat, maybe they oughta go this route. That opened up a bunch of space.

So, did you get the Hammerit undertail, too?
