2000 TLR Battery
Ok, after a total milking of my stock battery from October of 2000, and trickle charging each winter, it has finally puked. I know huh, over 9 years on a stocker, I'm surprised too. So now, I'll do the mod and of course a battery.
Any suggestions on a brand that is mid level priced, decent quality?Tags: None -

Re: 2000 TLR Battery
I've had good luck with Deka batteries...here's a Power-Tec branded battery manufactured by East Penn (Deka manufacturer). Got to have a good charging system to keep them alive though.

Re: 2000 TLR Battery
Umm, radical thought here. You already know what brand of battery will last 9 years in your TL. Why would you replace it with something else?"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Re: 2000 TLR Battery
@ apex69- don't know about the history of the battery, bit the guy at the shop recommended it to me. I was originally gonna get yuasa but he said he got a lot of complaints from them. You can't go wrong with a gel battery either.Comment

Re: 2000 TLR Battery
my neighbor was reading about bike batteries and fund where somone had taken a dewalt 28v battery from a cordless drill or something and removed the housing. inside there were 8 cells connected together. he cut one connection that dropped it to 14v and then soldered it back together so all the cells work. made a new housing for it and stuck it in his duc st4. he did install a bttery cutout for storage purposes, but the bike sat for about 3 weeks and started with no probs.
the cool thing is that the whole new battery weighs about 1 1/2 pounds. smaller bikes can get away with a 4cell pack, but this 8cell pack runs everything he has on the bike, which includes several aftermarket items, charges as did the old battery and spins the motor just as strong when starting. the battery was ~$35-40. he got a charger with it to use as a trickle charger of sorts, but so far its getting good results.
i was suprised so this seemed like the right place to pass on the info. take it for what its worthComment
