  • Power comm. needed?

    Hello all,

    Currently i just have a full yoshi exhaust and oem style air filter. heres my question. if i upgrade to an pipercross air filter would i have to get a power comm.? i have heard that the tl's would then run to lean and engine damage may occur?? anyone help me out? thx guys

    n also what excalty do those flapper things doo? Around the outter airbox area.

    if there is a forum please just direct me, i dont mean to start awhole nother thread on things already said , thx guys!

    There are plenty of threads but I guess I am as lazy as you and didnt feel like searching either.

    You don't HAVE TO HAVE a power commander after doing any of these bolt ons. But it is beneficial to do it. You will make more power, but only if you have it tuned. It would be pointless to add on and just leave it set as stock, or even use a generic map. I have used a generic map, and have also just got the bike dyno'd, and there is a world of difference.

    Also, the flappers are for your RAM air. They are supposed to open to allow more air in extra. But in reality you should bypass them and open the air box up to full air flow all the time.

        is there a night n day difference compared to the oem to pipercross? i suppose there would be even with out tuning?

          Not sure. I have the k & n and airbox mod. I'm not sure i would call it a night and day difference.
