  • 08 Hayabusa fork & caliper swap

Sorry if this is a tired thread , but I did some research and I still have some questions.

After consulting Sam's Fork Chart, I have a few questions concerning an impending project.
Here is what I'm considering: I would like to install '08 - '09 Hayabusa forks & calipers on my TLR. While the Fork Chart doesn't list the "Triple Clamp Fork Tube Diameters" for these forks, I have read other posts that claim they will "bolt directly into the TLR triple clamps." Thus, implying that the '08+ forks are dimensionally the same as the '99-'07 forks in that regard, and there would be no need for a lower triple clamp shim. Can others confirm this finding?

Next - What is the "Bolt PCD" dimension listed on the chart? There is no dimension shown for the '08 Busa forks.

Next - Will I need disc rotor spacers if I use my TL wheel and rotors? I notice the Chart lists the Hayabusa's rotor centers as 5mm wider (139mm) than the TL's (134mm), but is that difference due to the different triple clamps or the different caliper mounting methods?

Next - Will I need radial caliper spacers? The chart seems to indicate "YES" because the TL has a 320mm disc, while the '08 Busa has a 310mm disc. So then, 5mm spacers should do the trick. However, the photos I've seen of the Busa caliper mounting bosses show a raised edge around the screw hole that looks like an alignment bushing. The Busa microfiche shows a bushing in that location which they call a "PIN, CALIPER, 59151-41G00." If I'm looking at the right part, then my caliper spacers would merely need to have that bushing dimension built into them. Does that sound right?

If you can think of anything else I might be missing for this conversion, I'd be glad to hear your thoughts.
    Thanks.

Re: 08 Hayabusa fork & caliper swap

I just sold one of these setups last Friday.

Forks are the same as the TL 55mm, slip right in the triple.

PCD is the rotor bolt pattern dimension, you don't need that if you are using your TLR wheel

Yes, you need 2.5mm rotor spacers and 5mm caliper spacers.

I made the rotor spacers. Dan Kyle sells the nicest caliper spacers.

You need the Busa axle, bolt and spacer( complete 2 gen busa axle)

Thanks Van! That's a big help!

Do you also sell the rotor spacers?

How might I find Dan Kyle's username?

The Busa axle is required due to the style/dimension of the fork clamps and not due to the width of the assembly (because I'm using the TL triple clamps). Is this correct?

        Google dan Kyle racing.

And the busa axle is needed and you can use your tl triples.

Yes, the newer style Gen2 Busa fork bottoms need the newer style axle assembly. Both bikes are 214mm.

Yes, I could make the rotor spacers, again.
