anyone out there with the measurements for the ohlins bracket? i had the measurements but left them in a safe place, my inbox on the zone
as a couple of you may know i'm looking to instal a cbr954 rear shock on my tls as it's around the same length as the ohlins, and comes with a rear spring the same as terry fitted on his 1098 shock mod, any help will be greatly appreciated,

cheers for that, i usually do but i thought it was in a safer place on the zone than on my cluttered hard drive, you're never to old to learn are ya?
lets see if i can get this project moving at last, at least i've got the btoken damper bolt bypassed by helicoiling the rear of the damper

I posted my 1098 shock to Mark yesterday for him to rebuild it to suit my project TL, be a couple of weeks before I hear from him, in the meantime I liberated a 25mm thick slab of ali from work to make some mounts with. You know where I'm going to be most of this afternoon!

I had to revalve the stacks and add a 9.8 KG spring . I am 220 lbs , the best mod I have ever done to the bike was this shock. T.L.

              cheers for the info

i'm 55lb less than that, forgive me if i'm mistaken, but without looking up the thread didn't you have a 590lb spring on yours? through various websites i've found out that the cbr954 spring is a 580lb, so i'm only guessing that it's a good base to work from for my weight and no passengers,

thanks for the inspiration, after reading your thread i picked this as the easy option, but was torn between the 1098 shock or a late model R1 both good quality shocks and both 300mm long, but as i'd already looked into using the cbr929 shock on a previous bike i knew the length would be close to a perfect match, and as luck would have it the shock i've picked up measures 282mm between it's centres on it's mid preload setting

here's to a straight forward conversion, could it be the first of many?? but at £26 delivered for a good used shock i'd be foolish not to try.

The real problem in this mod is to find a shock that would fit in the frame space available at the top ,with a spring and the the piggyback bottle facing the right way . Have you installed the honda shock in the frame to see if all clears? If the stock spring on the honda shock is 580 lbs then the valving should be close. T.L.

i've not had a chance to try it just yet, but my idea was to turn it upside down with the piggy back at the bottom, which is why i went for the 954 shock instead of the 929, the piggy back come out on different sides, the 929 would be touching the swing arm whilst the 954 should be near the hugger
                  i hope

But then I don't know all that much about TL's

                          wwjd.......what would jimmy do.

I am so happy with this shock that I ordered a Ti spring ($310.00) last week .I am on a weight loss program ,both me and the bike . For every pound that the bike loses I lose thousands. next --ti subframe and diecast swingarm!
