  • Ha, Listen To This...

Yesterday my girlfriend and I went for a ride. She was on her '92 500EX, and I was on my '02 TLR. We stopped at a gas station to feed my hungry beast, and some guy had to open his mouth. He asked when I was going to get a Harley....I told him, when I'm about 60 or so....blah blah blah.

He babble about his Harley or something, wasn't really paying attention, just trying to pump gas and get riding again. He said he works at a Harley dealership in Southampton, MA. Blah Blah, I told him my last bike was a 929, but this time around I wanted to try out a V-twin, so I have this now. He said "I got a Harley that'll smoke that thing, it does 100 MPH in 3rd gear"............................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...................

I didn't argue, but on the continuation of our ride, I had to see something.....

So I hit about 95, in 2nd gear, almost redlining...and shut her down before I rear-ended a Honda CRV.

    Amazing!

Not that I have anything against Harley Davidson, nor their owners, but c'mon....

Hope this is posted in the right area....maybe we can start a thread of similar stories? If one doesn't exist already.

I always like a good Harley bashing. The only thing that matters is how long it took him to reach 100mph. Those bikes are bloated just like the egos of most of the people who ride them. Next time tell him if you wanted to ride a couch you could stay home and do that.

I've always wated to let one of those guys ride mine to experience real speed but I'm afraid they would end up ass over applecart and leave me with a mess to clean up.

Yeah, I think he meant the Harley smokes from all the oil it leaks.

That video was funny Sam. For the first 30 seconds I thought it was real. Then once it started switching camera angles it got more and more rehearsed.

My old Ute could do 100mph / 160km/h in 3rd, and so can a Harley. Coincidence? I think not. Harley's, like Heelers, like riding in the back of Utes.

So, that's how test rides are done in England, eh?

Most guys I know that ride harley's are not like that. The guy you met just happened to be a jerk, not because of the harley he owned.

Hmmm. My 06 zx-10r did 110mph in 1st gear. It was too over the top for me at the time. I might pick another one up soon though as I'm going to be visiting a some bigger tracks in the near future.

Agreed. I used to teach with some great people who owned Harleys and also a couple of my neighbors own them and they are good people as well. I have met MANY idiot Harley riders but no more than morons on any other type of bike. I will say the idiot Harley owners are more fun to listen to than others though. I've heard some ridiculous things said about their chrome contraptions.
