  • Tl1000s starter motor 1997

Hi Guys my starter packed up at the weekend , so I stripped it down cleaned off all the crap and sprayed it down with electrical cleaner. What I did notice was that a couple of the brushes are worn a little more than the others. It is working fine only I can hear it hanging for a second on start up. Do any of you just replace the brushes and any recommendations on where to get them ? Dealer item ? Or do I start a search for a replacement . Any year starter recommended more than others Thanks Jimmy D

What was wrong with it that you fixed without having to replace anything?

        Re: Tl1000s starter motor 1997

Hi Steve, apart from the bike being outside for a couple of really cold nights , as I usually have it garaged ,all that I noticed was that it seemed a little oily, or that a little of the grease inside had got on the brushes, I spoke to a friend of mine today who repairs starters for cars and he said no problem in getting a set of brushes and giving it a test for me so Happy days there. Hopefully it is just brushes . I am going to keep an eye out for a back-up i.e e-bay or breakers. Thanks again for the reply, Jimmy D
