Better brakes
I was going to fix up and mod my bike this winter and I'm starting to get parts but before I buy new brake lines I wanted to know if there are better caliper that I can get then the 4pot on my TLS. I want to get a used 6pot off another bike since I can't afford Brembos or any new ones. Will Busa or GSXR ones work, what's the best to get, what modifications will I have to do to fit them, and do I need to get some special order brake lines for them(I'm going to get Galfer braided lines) Will my stock mastercylinder work or should I get somethin different. Is it worth it or just get new lines and pads for stockers. Any info on your experiences is appriciated.War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. mine came off of a gixxer 750 (late 90s). whatever bike you get the calipers from, get the mc as well. the proportioning valve in your current mc will not push enough fluid for the 6 pots. other than that it is a bolt on mod (one you will be glad you did). i am using carbonite ss brake lines for a gixxer 600 (all they had in stock) and they fit perfectly
new pads and lines will help the 4 pots, BUT there is nothing like the stopping power of he 6 pots so if you can get a set for a decent price (mine were free so it was a no brainer) definitely do it. kevlar pads suck though (just thought i would throw that out there)

Yup, you can get GSXR 750 6 pot calipers that won't need any mods, just bolt right up!! I picked up a pair, 96-99 and they were apx $90. Check salvage places and you'll geta decent discount! I kept my stock mastercylindar which probably should've been upgraded. I had orders regular TLS lines from galfer and they fit just fine, you won't need different lengths. Then I would swap out the pads and get teh EBC sintered HH's!!!
With that setup, you'll just about $hit your pants the first few time you grab that with two fingers! WARNING, DON'T GRAB WITH FOUR FINGERS!Comment

You can get lines for the stockers and see how you like it. Then if it isn't enough you can add the 6 post and M/C.. You'll still want the lines.
ZX-12 6-pots work also.. Get the 5/8 master (16mm) the stock tls is 14mm.. It feels much better.
And double check the fork hieghts so that they line up right (Doug said something about this a while ago) because I put HH pads in my tlr setup and it dragged on the rotor like crazy. He said that if you loosen everything up and make sure it's aligned right it works great.I've got a huge penis, You've got a huge penis, even Tim over there, yup you guessed it, huge penis. Good, now that that's out of the way, let's go rideComment

hmmm...if you can get ahold of hem, have them measure the distance between the 2 mounting holes (should be the same as yours). also have them measure the height of the caliper (for rim clearance)
maybe one of the tiller guys could also take the measurements for you (as well as give you the disc size of a tiller

KevH,
Trust me, the gixxer 750 96-99 will fit perfect and with no worries or measuring at all! Plus those brakes look like shit! Would you really want to buy your calipers out of a garbage bin?
I would check out www.gixxer.com and see if anyone has these brakes for sale there!Comment

if you have a TLS just put on TLR calipers - they bolt right on - any good quality steel braided lines and you're set. You do not have to change the master cylinder. I'm using Zyco or Perfomance Lorraine carbon sintered pads and they work really well at the track though they are tough on the rotors.Jack DeAndrade

I'm seeing some for good prices but wondered if one is better than another between the gsxr's zx12r or tl1000r or if they are all mostly the same between the stock 6pots.......will 2003 zx12 work?War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.
