From what I know about Ducs, this is about a $12K -$15K bike, no? How can it be going for $4500Hotter than hell ya think?

just tell him ya I'll come down tomarrow to pick it up. You'll hear all kinds of excusesWar is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Stupify - The way these things work is the seller places an item at an crazy under market value price and then asks for a deposit to hold the item - Do that to 100 folks and remove the auction and you can make some serious $$$$ - We uncovered one for an '02 Duc 998r for $11K - We did what was mentioned - I was going to take 2 days off work and drive to NY to pick it up - $11K for a $30K bike - hell yeah I'll do that - When we contacted (term used very loosely) the dude asked for a $2K deposit and was only taking 200 biders w/5 star ratings - We offered him $14K and he said just send the deposit
Hence, the scam"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW, what a RIDE!!"

I'm skeptical... and a tad confused.
Granted, the two ads make no sense (I have no idea what a four-year-old Ducati is worth, but I know that used 'Rods are selling in the $16,000 range). I would think that a seller would only be able to pull a stunt like that (a non-refundable "bid list fee") with eBay just once or twice before they shut him down. The guy with the V-Rod has apparently conducted a large quantity of business on the site. "Buy it Now" is, literally just what it says. Once a bid is placed, the "BIN" option goes away anyway.Kim

KB - I have not dug too deep on these listings but when we researched the dude who tried to scam us for the 998r, his history was that of small less than $10 items and all were sold to the same two buyersThey can pull this scam but then when cought, just have someone else do the same, kinda like a team effort - The 996 SPS was the Duc of its day in '99 and went for about $25K new I believe - As of today they tend to go from about $12K to about 15 or $16K for real nice ones!
